Whenever I hear the term “just be yourself” the first thing that pops up in my mind is, what does that even mean?

This term is probably the most used motivational sentence in the world right now, this might be the worst advice a person who needs a change in life could hear of

As when I think about it, being myself has led me to the situation which I am in, so what is the point?

On the contrary behaving to impress others might be worse than being yourself, as this just makes you look like a person who changes their colours like a chameleon just to fit in. It’s like saying “Messi is my favourite cricket player” people would easily catch you if they’re smart enough.

Oh, I know, it is very confusing out there, here is the thing which I figured out, through my experiences the true authentic self which you should aspire to be is a person who is fearless about the things which they might say or in short, they do not fear rejection,

Does this mean you should talk to everyone in a rowdy manner? of course not!

You should make different versions of yourself for different situations, for example if you are a business student, you will talk like a person who knows about business during a company interview.

in the same way while talking with your buddies, you will become a more casual version of yourself who takes things lightly.

During both the situations you are not pretending to be another person, but just switching into different versions of the same you, basically just like changing gears in a car according to the traffic,

Rather than driving at the same speed and crashing & then blaming it somehow on the government, yeah, I know, it was a bad joke for real.

This process of not fearing rejection while speaking & shifting gears might be hard at the beginning but through being aware and mindful of your actions, you will develop this trait as a habit and then let’s hope it won’t require you to read blogs like these.
